WALT DISNEY WORLD TICKETS

Disney World is made up of 4 theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Additionally, Disney World has two water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Disney Springs is the shopping district for Disney World, but you DO NOT need a ticket to enter the area, anyone can visit Disney Springs.

Important Disney World Ticket Information

There are several different ticket options to consider when planning your Walt Disney World vacation. Important to note before deciding which tickets fit your family best:

1. All tickets in the same vacation package must be the same. This means if dad wants 4 day park hoppers then everyone must also have 4 day park hoppers. If you add the water park and sports option to one ticket, you are adding it for everyone. There are no exceptions. If booking a vacation package then all ticket components are the same for everyone in your party.

2. You cannot add park hoppers to just one day or part of your stay. If you want park hoppers for one day, you must add them for all your tickets. It is not possible to add for some of your theme park days and not all. It is all or nothing. Even if you visit guest services at the theme park while on your vacation, they will still charge you too add for ALL your park days.

3. Park tickets are not enough to enter the theme parks at this time. You must also make a theme park reservation for the park you wish to visit each day. There is a separate process within your My Disney Experience app to do this. Reservations are subject to availability and should be made as soon as possible. Be sure to check theme park reservation availability before scheduling your vacation or making a purchase.

4. Ticket pricing is dynamic and changes based on the season and day. Disney typically raises ticket prices twice a year, but this is always subject to change and at Disney’s discretion. Additionally, the more days of tickets you purchase the cheaper the individual ticket price. In other words, if you are deciding between 5 or 6 day tickets you will notice the price difference is not nearly as much as between 1 and 2 day tickets.

Types of Disney World Tickets

BASE TICKET  AKA 1 PARK PER DAY TICKET

A Base ticket allows you to visit 1 of the 4 theme parks for each day you have a ticket (do not forget you must also make a park reservation for each day). If you wish to visit all 4 theme parks during your vacation then you must purchase 4 day base tickets. You cannot visit more than 1 park a day with base tickets. If you wish to visit more than 1 park a day you must add park hoppers. Base tickets are the most affordable and begin at $109 per day (remember pricing is dynamic and changes based on the day).

PARK HOPPER TICKET

Park hopper tickets are required to visit more than 1 park in the same day. Currently, you are required to make a park reservation for the first theme park you plan to visit. You may hop any time after 2pm and you do not need a reservation for the next park (or parks). You may visit all 4 parks in 1 day should you choose to do so with a park hopper ticket. Park hoppers are an additional $70+ per ticket depending on how many park days your are purchasing in your vacation package.

WATER PARK SPORTS OPTION AND MORE TICKET

You may add the water park and sports option to your base or 1 park per day tickets. The addition gives you a certain number of visits to other Disney World fun based on the length of your ticket. For example, a 4-day ticket allows 4 visits and a 5-day ticket allows 5 visits. For each visit, you can choose one of the following: Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Blizzard Beach Water Park (currently closed), Wide World of Sports Complex (currently unavailable), Foot Golf at Oak Trail Golf Course, 9 holes at Oak Trail Golf Course, Miniature Golf at Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland. The additional cost to add the water park and sports option is similar to that of adding park hoppers.

PARK HOPPER PLUS TICKET

The most expensive of all the tickets is the Park Hopper Plus Ticket. You receive all the same options as the Water Park and Sports Ticket with the added benefit of being able to park hop. The Park Hopper Plus ticket will cost you about $100+ per ticket depending on the amount of park days you purchase with your vacation package.

You can visit the Disney World website to price tickets for your vacation.

Frequently asked questions

You keep mentioning tickets within a vacation package. What if I purchase my tickets separately and not as a package?

We always recommend guests purchase tickets within a vacation package because in this scenario all that is required to book is a $200 deposit for your entire trip. This $200 is fully refundable until 30 days before travel (when final payment is due). If tickets are purchased separately then you must pay in full at time of purchase. The tickets will hold their value should you need to reschedule your trip (you will have to pay the difference in price if your new dates are more expensive), but are not refundable or transferrable.

What about adding Genie+ to my tickets?

Disney World has discontinued the ability to add Genie+ at time of ticket purchase. If you wish to add Genie+ you will do so through your My Disney Experience app each day you would like to add the service. The cost is $15 plus tax per person per day.

What about special event tickets?

Special event tickets such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are sold separately from theme park tickets. Special event tickets allow entry into the theme park at a certain time and do NOT require a regular theme park ticket or park reservation. If you are visiting a theme park where a special event is taking place and do not have a special event ticket then you will have to exit the theme park when the event begins.
